All of this equipment is costly even for the child who can benefit from it the most. Gorge Falls Therapy is embarking on the establishment of a multi-sensory center located in Ithaca. Our vision includes a large 'alerting' area with swings, crash mats, climbing structures and adventures yet to be determined. We will also be including a calming room with all the soft fuzzy things, books on audio, fiber-optic lighting and projectors. A sensory center would not be complete without a tactile room with interesting walls and paths and activity tables.
Our center would be available for therapy services from any Tompkins county provider to utilize for access to equipment. Open for memberships and any day stay and play; birthday parties with something for any kid on the invite list; after school care and summer camp programs.
Overall this center is being designed to serve needs as well to socially include all kids under 12 year of age in a fun, accepting and accommodating atmosphere.
