Supplies for Sayre!

Supplies for Sayre!

From Jacob Lesniewski

CPS budget cuts have hit every school hard. At Sayre Language Academy, a K-8 neighborhood school, we've lost all funds for classroom supplies. We're raising funds to purchase supplies to support our great teachers!

Update #3

Thank you all for supporting this campaign! Because of your generosity, we raised $1,000 for school supplies for our teachers and students! That's double our goal! While it's frustrating that we live in a city where we have to take extra-ordinary efforts for our kids to have tissues and our teachers to have dry-erase markers in their classrooms, we are so grateful and filled with hope by the response to this campaign. We're not giving up on our kids, their school, and our city, and we thank you all for not giving up on them either!

More Info

You've heard about the budget crisis in CPS and the apocalyptic scenarios playing out in media.  For those of us with students in CPS schools, the daily challenges of navigating austerity and uncertainty play out in seemingly mundane things like classroom supplies.  Sayre Language Academy is a neighborhood K-8 school in the Galewood community on Chicago's West Side.  It's a diverse Level 1 school with all the challenges, successes and joys of a group of dedicated teachers, enthusiastic students and engaged parents.  The latest budget cuts mean that our teachers have no classroom supplies. We'd like to share the burden with them of purchasing their supplies. Please join us and support the teachers and students of Sayre Language Academy!
