Fierce, Funny, Faithful, and Full of Life
The last few days have been challenging as we’ve learned about the death of our dear friend Meghan. We’ve been the most touched by the number of people who have reached out to ask if they can help, to offer condolences, and to tell an endearing story.
Meghan loved the country of Ghana.
She loved her daughters and was deeply committed to them.
She loved truth, justice, and equity…oh, and trauma laughter.
It’s been bittersweet to get to know her friends from Ghana better through this. Turns out she was just as loved and respected there.
We don’t have all of the answers, but we do know Meghan would want her daughters taken care of. We know that leaving them was her biggest fear. We feel like we can hear her saying, “Don’t worry about me. Take care of my girls.”
Right now, a group of friends in Ghana are working closely to ensure the welfare of the girls and to celebrate Meghan’s legacy. This committee includes doctors from the USA, teachers, and other professionals. They are also working with social workers to determine the best guardians for the long term. We would like to support these friends and the girls throughout this painful process. We are working closely with this committee to make sure that Meghan’s wishes for her daughters are carried out.
The purpose of this fundraiser is to help with the immediate needs as well as long term care of the girls. They need private medical insurance, funds for education, childcare with their trusted nanny, and our support. We will continue to update as the needs become clearer, and we will share specifically how these funds are dispersed.
