The Traditional Arts Indiana (TAI) Apprenticeship Program supports the continuation of cultural practices in Indiana communities by funding up to six apprenticeship pairs each year, enabling apprentices to learn essential knowledge and skills in traditional art forms from master artists.
Many of these traditional art forms are essential to the unique history of Indiana, and TAI (a program of IU's Mathers Museum of World Cultures and the Indiana Arts Commission) works to help keep them alive through these intergenerational apprenticeships.
If selected, master artists will receive an honorarium and each master artist will host an apprentice formally for nine months. This will provide support for the time and space for the master and apprentice to dive deeply into their work together. Knowledge flows in both directions, enriching the creative practice of all participants.
Your support will help establish a legacy for the continuation of traditional and folk arts in Indiana. Please, make your gift today!
