#GivingTuesday

Honduras is a beautiful country that has rich flora and fauna but what sets it apart are it’s kind-hearted, resilient and humble people. Unfortunately, Honduras suffers from the widespread corruption and has been hit by another natural disaster plunging the country into further insecurity.

Honduras had been impacted by two major hurricanes within the last couple of weeks that was almost as bad as Hurricane Mitch. As per usual, the Honduran government’s absence demonstrates its complete lack of capability, ethic and dignity. Thousands of people were left abandoned to fend for themselves. There was no plan of action nor any public fund to assist those who have lost everything.

In Honduras there is a phrase now that translates roughly to, “The town saves the people”. Thousands of people have mobilized from different parts of the country and abroad to lend a hand to the thousands of families that have been affected by Eta.

Roatan Sea Kayak Eco Tours is in solidarity with the people of Honduras and has launched a grassroots campaign to support those affected. The funds that have been raised from this campaign have gone directly to the makeshift community shelters where emergency relief items such as medication, food, and mattresses are much needed. Funds are being distributed to community leaders at the shelters in the Atlantic coastal area, an area that has been impacted doubly by Hurricane Eta and Iota this November. All donors will receive photos/videos of how their donation is helping. Thank you for considering donating!
