The First Step House is a 501(c)3 non-profit comprised of a group of volunteers committed to providing free, short-term, food and housing to low income and indigent alcoholics as they make a new beginning in sobriety.
As long as I'm going to suffer through the training and actual event of a sprint triathlon (www.springsprinttri.com) on May 5th, I thought it would make sense to assist in the suffering of those with fewer resources.
Not everyone is as lucky as me to have such a great support system and financial capabilities to receive the real help needed for true recovery. We need to all band together to help those that suffer with addiction but don't have these same resources that I was fortunate enough to have access to.
My donation* to The First Step House of North County (www.fshnc.org) will help to provide a safe, supportive home for men who have nowhere else to go. It is free to those who need it and is run entirely by trained volunteers.
* Because I don't know how to set up your donations to go directly to The First Step House, the funds will come to me and I'll donate 100% of donations received. Maybe for my next one I'll figure it out. But for now, time's a wasting...
