Talent to Income for disadvantaged workers

My story is not complicated but there is a need to make a difference in communities. There are people who are disadvantaged and find themselves with financial hardships, I asked myself, "Did any of these people wake up one day and say they want to be homeless, jobless, or non-productive"? Of course, my answer was no. I decided to step out on faith and do something about it. I went back to school to get my bachelor's degree in social science because this was the first step on my journey. As a backstory, having worked with people all my life, the elderly, foster kids, the mentally challenged, those with drug addiction, and the homeless, it was time to make changes. Being a seasoned caregiver in human services, I saw people who were suffering. I am not rich but the little I have I am willing to share. If one person with the help of Gift-A-Job Inc. gets back into the working world, they will no longer be a statistic. I finished my bachelor's degree and continued to get my master's degree in social science with a concentration in Organizational Leadership. My adult children told me I was too old to go back to school. I love challenges and that did not stop me. I wanted to start a nonprofit even though there are many employment agencies out here, Gift-A-Job Inc. is a little different. Our agency will help people get jobs, but the main goal is to help people realize their talent to create a job. The happiest employees are the ones doing something they love. The target population is the disabled, the middle-aged,  immigrants, the previously incarcerated who need a second chance, and those with a lack of education and training. So I went to work to establish Gift-A-Job Inc. to do something other than your typical employment agency.  Our organization is more of a career change agency, as in, you pick your alternative to a 9 to 5. We offer workshops to show clients how to create a job with their natural skills. Numerous people have skills that do not have a job, because of some barrier holding them back. Gift-A-Job Inc. wants to eliminate that problem. Here are two examples of basic skills, that can turn into a job or business.

Example: A lady baked beautiful cakes for the church fundraiser and, she sold a lot of cakes. That fundraiser could turn into a business.  Another example: There is a young man who does yard work in the summer, fall, and winter. He could start his own landscaping business. These are just a few examples of the skills people have that are natural in them, it's a gift from GOD. That is how the name Gift-A-Job Inc. was created, through natural gifts, one can create a job. The money that is raised will be used to hire staff, I need teachers and community outreach help. We want to provide transportation, clothing, and food for many who are homeless, or those getting back on their feet. We had two fundraisers, a shoe drive and a lunch which turned out okay, but the shoe drive needed more participants. Gift-A-Job will need a bigger space eventually because the office space is small, but the greatest organizations started with humble beginnings. The board of directors consists of five people including myself. The whole project is exciting and overwhelming but determination will make this organization a success. Your generous donations will help us fund our initiatives and activities that will allow us to have a greater impact in the fight against joblessness. Your support is essential to our work and we are incredibly grateful for any contribution you make.
