Here is some information about Vera Rivard.

Next August, she will attempt to swim the English Channel. She has dreamed of this swim her entire life.  At the age of 5, she swam her first open water lake mile at her home on Lake Kolelemook in Springfield, NH.  After that, she was hooked on swimming in the open water!

Vera Rivard is 15 years old.  She has been a member of the UVAC Swim Team since the age of 5.

She has completed many open water swims to date.  In 2018, she became the youngest swimmer to ever Swim the Length of Lake Memphremagog a 25-mile swim between Newport, VT USA and Magog, Quebec Canada.  She also completed all the Ice events at the 2018 and 2019 Memphremagog Winter Swimming Festival.  She was named one of the World’s 50 Most Adventurous Open Water Women by the World Open Water Swimming Association and was named a finalist in the Marathon Swim Federation’s Global Maraton Swimming Awards in 2018.  She was also named one of 2018’s Athletes of the Year by Vermont Sports Magazine.

In 2019, she attended Cork Distance Swim Week in Cork, Ireland swimming over 50 ocean miles that week and completed the Swim the Kingdom Week in the Northeast Kingdom racing over 60 freshwater miles.  This includes a 18 mile double crossing of Lac Massawippi in Ayres Cliff, Quebec Canada.
