More Info

On May 1st, 2020 we tragically lost our loving brother Adam Alexander Connie Jr. to the heartbreak of suicide. Adam was a light in the life of everyone he encountered and will always be remembered for his contagious smile and ability to encourage others to chase their dreams.

Adam openly advocated for the importance of mental health and had his own dreams of studying psychology and making a difference.

African Americans account for approximately 13% of the population, but they account for only 2% of psychiatrists, 2% of psychologists and 4% of social workers. The Adam Jr. Smile Movement is committed to carrying out Adam's dreams and making strides to change those racial disparities.

This funding will provide an African American student with a full-ride scholarship to study psychology, suicidology, epidemiology, etc. in order to increase representation and develop more effective interventions.
