The BG'z futuristic legacy

The BG'z futuristic legacy

From Averona Polk

I'm raising money for children of color to become cartoonist and book authors. I want to let children turn their ideas into reality. Many children of color don't get the opportunity and I want them to love making books.

This idea came to me because of my children as well as working as a sub to small children. Children of color are so creative, but they need a chance. Alot of them growing up in small towns across the nation with little to no resources of things specifically designed to keep them out of trouble.  I want them to give them something to do with their minds and creativity other than television. Children sit for hours watching other children play when instead they can create. I also noticed that children of color in small towns lack wanting to read books. So, sitting and creating storylines and doing impersonating voices of creatures and other people gave the children of the community inspiration. As, a sub I began to see how much they began to enjoy story time, so I wanted to get their families involved. The more stories the children created, the more their reading improved. So many of the different characters and places they created would surprise me. Then, I figured why not bring those ideas to life. So, help me in this journey to help our children of color explore their imagination.
