When Kevin and Danielle were married, they never dreamed the road ahead would lead them to where they are today. Kevin and his family are facing a long journey as he recently had 80% of a brain tumor removed.
When Kevin and Danielle were married, they never dreamed the road ahead would lead them to where they are today.
After being married and trying for several years to start a family, the couple completely surrendered their desires to the Lord after not being able to conceive.
And then..."it" happened. The news of their pregnancy overjoyed the entire family. Their prayers were answered and on February of 2023 a beautiful baby girl, Emorie, was born. The couple were just ecstatic.
In late spring, early summer, Kevin started having some medical concerns. After seeing doctors and having scans done they discovered Kevin had a considerably large tumor on his brain. Needless-to-say, Kevin and Danielle (as well as the entire family) were devastated! Being a first time father after waiting for so long, the diagnosis just didn't seem to be something that could really be true. How could this be happening?
Kevin recently underwent a surgery that took about 12 hours. To say that was the longest 12 hours of the family's life would be an understatement. He is still currently in ICU at Roanoke Hospital and will be there for a few more days before being moved to PCU. Once released from the hospital, Danielle will have set up everything for Kevin to be transported to a Rehabilitation Center where he will stay for 15-21 days.
Doctors have determined the type of tumor Kevin has is Chondrosarcoma and will have to receive proton radiation therapy. There are only 20 available treatment centers in the United States with the help that he needs. They are looking at the following locations- Hampton Roads-Williamsburg, John Hopkins in Maryland/Georgetown, Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. If those locations are unavailable, they will have to start looking farther away like Texas or Massachusetts. They will need to stay in the location for a month at a time to receive his treatments.
They will also then need to meet with a Chondrosarcoma specialist at Duke University to continue to review his case. Doctors are currently sending a referral to get the process moving.
There is a long journey ahead. The astronomical costs facing this family is where we can help. Any amount given will be such a blessing in seeing that Kevin can have the treatment he needs. He will be out of work for an unforeseen amount of time, so your gift will greatly help them with normal living expenses as well. Finally, your support will go to help Danielle and Emorie in being able to travel with Kevin. Lastly, please keep this dear family in your prayers. Thank you for your generosity and love.
