In lieu of a big party for our momma's 60th birthday, we are reaching out to her close friends and family to try and raise money for her to get to Spain and embark on this spiritual journey she has always dreamed of!

Hello all!
I hope this message reaches you happy and relaxed after another busy holiday season. As you may or may not know, our dear Mama is turning the big 6-0 this year. I don’t need to go into detail about how rough the past couple years have been for her. She fell in love with our beloved Papa at the tender 24 years old, and over the next 30 years built a life full of love, laughter and dancing. He left us almost 3 years ago now, which even as I write this is a hard number to comprehend; it feels both too short a time and much too long a time to have been without him.
About 5 years ago Mom started to think about completing a pilgrimage across Northern Spain called the Camino de Santiago. This path of spiritual growth dates back to the middle ages, and leads to the shrine of the apostle Saint James the Great, who was one of the first disciples to join Jesus and is thought to be the first martyred. Tradition states that this shrine is where James is buried. Mom started talking about doing this walk many years ago, and the idea evolved to her and our dad doing the walk together. They (finally) took their much-anticipated trip to Italy a couple years before, and were planning this to be their next big trip together. Dad even bought Mom a book about the pilgrimage the Christmas before he passed, which came with a couple jokes about how she would need to up her biweekly walk to a more strenuous cardio regimen in order to complete the roughly 515 miles.
I am giving you this backstory because my sister, brother and I have been racking our brains trying to figure out a way to send her on this pilgrimage. While we’d love to be able to send her ourselves, none of us are in the financial position to do so. (Maybe for her 70th!) So Krista came up with pretty great idea. For her 60th birthday, we are reaching out to her friends and family to try and raise the money for her to go. We are asking that instead of getting her a gift of some sort, you contribute to this fund to try and get her to Spain! All of the money contributed would go into an account specifically for this purpose. Any contribution is appreciated!! Thank you all so much for taking the time to read this and help make a dream come true for our dear Mama.
