GREAT NEWS! WE DID IT! I have just sent USD1537.62 to New Bridge for Cambodia Organisation for the building of the toilets at Angkor Krout village, Siem Reap. After the international receipt fee, that will be approx. USD$139 over target, and Paul from the charity says this extra will be used to start a farming program at the village - how great is that! Thanks again to everyone who contributed to make this happen. Here's a photo from the start of the build!
We need donors who are willing to contribute a monthly amount to pay a wage for a teacher at the school we built in the village. Can you help? Message Cass or Supporters of New Bridge for Cambodia facebook page.
Good loos change lives. Having access to clean and sanitary loos is something we all take for granted in Australia. Every house, shop, restaurant and bar has a good flushing dunny, even if the one’s in the latter can smell a little whiffy. What we forget is they also keep us safe. A flushing toilet protects children, the elderly and the disabled from harmful diseases and fatal conditions. That’s why I’m raising money to build toilets in my favourite village in Cambodia. Angkor Krout is a small village near Angkor Wat that needs a little help. A lot of the villagers suffer from poor health, disabilities caused by landmines and are living with HIV/AIDS. They’re a vulnerable group with no access to good loos. Over the past couple of years I’ve worked with local charity New Bridge for Cambodia to bring education and basic infrastructure to the village. Now we want to fight a battle against disease. Give us $20-$50 today and we’ll build the village some shiny new toilets and give the kids a better start to life. Here is what we’ll spend your money on:
5000 bricks4 tins of paint2 toilets1 set of timber1 set of corrugated iron30 bags of cementall the tools for the job4 local builders
We only have until July 26 to hit our target so dig deep if you can.
Yours truly,
