Top Surgery for Nonbinary Queer

Top Surgery for Nonbinary Queer

From Dylan Jilek

Raising money for one of my friends (who needs to remain anonymous) to have the top surgery they've needed for years. Their insurance will not pay for this surgery and they're looking at $13K for the surgery alone.

Hello! I'm raising money for my one of my friends to get top surgery. My friend is a nonbinary queer who has needed top surgery for years now, for several reasons. All funds raised by this fundraiser will go directly to payment for their top surgery.

They have chronic back and neck pain related to having breasts, as well as chronic back and neck pain related to wearing a bra. Lastly, their breasts trigger dysphoria - defined as a distressed state arising from conflict between a person's gender identity and the sex the person has or was identified as having at birth (Merriam Webster definition).

My friend's dream is to be able to go out of the house wearing a plain old white t-shirt. To just be able to wear clothing they feel comfortable in without drawing attention to themself because of a body part that makes them feel dysphoria. By donating to this campaign, you can help make this dream come true!

Top surgery will also be a huge part of helping my friend begin to recover from the chronic neck and back pain they currently experience.

Why anonymous?

My friend's boobs cause them a lot of shame. They're a part of my friend's body that they want to hide, to not draw attention to. Because of this, they want to remain anonymous for the purposes of this fundraiser - they don't want people they know thinking about their breasts and their discomfort surrounding their breasts. It feels far too personal to let people into their head like that, and makes them want to hide more than just their breasts.

How can you help?

Gender affirmation surgery is super expensive. My friend's insurance company denied their request to obtain top surgery in spring of 2020. They are looking at $13,000 for the surgery alone - which doesn't include extras like money to cover their day to day needs while they recover from surgery.

Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and generosity. Every donation, no matter the amount, brings this queer one step closer to this surgery they urgently need.

Bonus!

Anyone who donates $25 or more will receive homemade chocolate chip cookies made by me (Dylan/Kraken), as long as you provide an address and any dietary needs!
