Still chugging along toward the goal of sowing seeds in celebration of our good friend Benjamin.
This story is about Benjamin Kauffman. A true friend. Benjamin had a big heart that frequently overflowed with love and compassion. He had little, but what he had he would not hesitate to share with anyone less fortunate. Benjamin loved to volunteer at soup kitchens, bringing smiles to the faces of the downhearted or lonely. He would visit with our elders left or forgotten in nursing homes, bringing to them his infectious smile and some moments of joy. He had much pride when riding on the back of a Harley in honor and tribute to our fallen heroes or for Toys-for-Tots.
Behind this caring and loving man his battle with post-traumatic stress disorder, mental illness and too many medical maladies for any one person to have to endure every day. The strength and courage that he developed to just get through a day is a huge and humbling encouragement to those of us struggling with issues that pale in comparison to what he had to endure every day.
While recovering from both parts of the flu virus and pneumonia, our dear friend Benjamin succumbed to complications from his medications on March 13, 2018, at the tender age of 40.
In celebration of Benjamin and to honor his memory I ask for your help in raising funds to have trees planted in his remembrance. All proceeds will be used exclusively for the planting of 200 trees as a living tribute to Benjamin Kauffman.
