I am incredibly grateful to be part of Trek Coalition's team for this year's trip to Ecuador. Trek Coalition's mission is to provide comprehensive care that reaches the needs of underdeveloped societies in Ecuador. They are made up a team that includes physicians, medical students, public health students and a team of physical therapist. They aim to give the communities the highest quality of medical care and develop an ongoing relationship with the people. The trip is week long mission, and this year they hope to serve over 800 patients.

I will be doing my part on this trip by assisting the physical therapy team and serving as a translator. I am currently working as a physical therapy aide and have being working closely with a physical therapist, Michael Tully, who is also one of the co founder's of Trek Coalition. He is a great mentor and has been helping me improve my skills and knowledge about the physical therapy profession. Additionally, I am the primary Spanish translator at work and I am always continuing to perfect my Spanish medical terminology. I have to opportunity to aide the communication barrier that the team has experienced in their previous trips. Having an important role on this trip further motivates me to pursue my career goal of becoming a physical therapist.

In addition to serving the communities in Ecuador, I am excited to learn more about their culture and customs. I am passionate in helping those I interact with, so being able to better understand the communities needs will allow me to provide them the service they seek. I hope to connect and share experiences with those I will encounter abroad. Likewise, I plan on observing and learning from the other providers that will be helping the communities. I am confident this experience will give me a new perspective about healthcare needs around the world and provide personal growth.

This cost of participating on this trip is $1,500. I am reaching out to my community and those who support my cause to help me raise the funds. The cost of the trip will cover the essentials including meals, place to stay and airfare. Any amount raised beyond the $1,500 will directly go to the non-profit organization and utilized for the various communities in Ecuador. I am thankful for any contribution made and appreciate the support. Every donation will have an impact in this year's trip and help the progression of Trek Coalition's mission to outreach the people with limited access to care providers.
