Fundraising for:
Honduras - Bartczak Team

From Trisha K

In April I'm going to Honduras for my 2nd Global Village trip. Not sure how Honduras is going to top Nicaragua's build but I can't wait to find out.

About Me

I'm back working at Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver! Not only am I able to build on site a couple times a month, I get to also work with other affiliates once a year. Yay Global Village trips. My experience last year on my first Global Village trip was fantastic. Everything I could of asked for happened, great people to work with, fun building, amazing partner family, and delicious food. Traveling is important to me, but what I like about GV trips is that I am able to work/build and also help the community I'm traveling to.

More Info

Honduras is one of the poorest and least developed countries in Latin America, and nearly two-thirds of Hondurans live in poverty. Before 1998, Honduras had shown moderate economic growth as a result of government reforms. But in that year Hurricane Mitch inflicted $3 billion in damage on the country, and Honduras’ economy is still recovering. The agriculture sector, responsible for most exports, was hurt the most.

Since its founding in 1988, Habitat for Humanity Honduras has built more than 10,000 houses, providing simple, decent and affordable shelter for more than 35,000 Hondurans in need of earthquake-resistant houses made with concrete floors, block walls and corrugated zinc roofs.

Global Village teams that travel to Honduras are an important part of Habitat’s mission to provide simple, decent, affordable housing. Your donation to a Global Village team is also an important aspect of that mission; please consider giving, and pass this request along to family and friends.

Global Village is Habitat for Humanity’s international volunteer program. Teams travel to over 40 countries to work alongside communities, build housing solutions, and experience local culture. Our goal is to change the lives of the people we serve, as well as the lives of the volunteers.

About Habitat for Humanity International

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort on a community farm in southern Georgia. The housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in more than 1,300 communities throughout the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower. To learn more, visit habitat.org.
