"Through rain or shine, everyday we walk the line!" On January 14, 2019, our UCLA-CS UTLA members went on strike. We were joined by our SEIU Local 99 Teaching Assistants, who held a sympathy strike. We were also joined by students, parents, and community members. Going on strike has been the hardest thing any of us have ever done. We love our students, families, and support staff. However, we know that we must stand up and defend public education from the attack it is facing in Los Angeles. We are on strike for as long as it takes to secure funds to reduce class sizes, hire more nurses and counselors, and create a cap on charter schools. We have established this official strike fund in order to provide financial support to teachers in need and to our teaching assistants. Any amount will help! Thank you for your support!
