Third grade in a Waldorf school means farming: learning about our connection to the earth and its resources, studying plants and animals, digging in the dirt, and working hard. This curriculum culminates with the annual farm trip in April -- a week-long overnight (!) trip to live and work at Hawthorne Valley Farm. The students will milk cows, collect eggs, sweep stalls, plant seeds, churn butter, and prepare meals. To raise money for this trip, the kids are baking and selling muffins and parents are selling pizza lunches. But these efforts only go so far. If you are able to chip in a few dollars to the cause, our third grade farmers would be so grateful.
